Javier Milei prepares shock therapy for Argentina
President-elect Javier Milei of Argentina had little time to celebrate his November 19 runoff win, with his inauguration looming on December 10 and his small and inexperienced team looking for outside help to deal with a dramatic economic crisis.
Driving the news. Already on Election Night, Mr. Milei and his behind-the-scenes ally, former President Mauricio Macri, began talks over the makeup of his cabinet.
Shock therapy. While many details still need to be ironed out, the two seem to agree on one general guideline: economic reforms need to come thick and fast.
