After the Brazilian Senate greenlit Covid-19 vaccine production in veterinary laboratories, the country’s federal health regulator Anvisa said it is already discussing the next steps to kick off manufacturing, with meetings “already scheduled.”

The proposal’s rapporteur, Senator Wellington Fagundes, confirmed that a delegation including members of the Health Ministry, World Health Organization, and Pan-American Health Organization will carry out factory inspections in the coming days. “We seek the production of 400 million doses in the next 90 days,” said Mr. Fagundes.

The senator also confirmed that Chinese companies may use those structures to outsource vaccine manufacturing.
