Tech Roundup: Brazilian medical cannabis startup opens U.S. office

Cannacare just raised about USD 200,000 to invest in marketing, tech development, and a Miami office to vertically integrate the importation of cannabis-based products for Brazilian patients

Startup offers cannabis-based products and care for Brazilian patients

The Brazilian startup Cannacare, focused on continuous care and the importation of cannabis-based products, officially began operations in January this year with the mission of simplifying the lives of Brazilian patients interested in treating various ailments with cannabis-based oils, creams, and pills.

How it works. The idea was born from the personal experience of co-founder and CEO André Robles, who suffered from insomnia for 15 years. After various treatments, he found relief from the problem in medical cannabis, but not without some difficulties. 

  • From the search for a specialized doctor, to the lack of information on which product to buy, to the bureaucracy of the authorization and importation procedures at Brazilian health regulator Anvisa — Cannacare helps patients through all these steps, from the initial consultation to the regular delivery of medicine to their homes.

State of play. Cannacare has just raised BRL 1 million (about USD 204,000) from family and friends to expand.
