Brazil's massive food delivery app has cut hirings and is shifting focus after the pandemic-led delivery boom

In this week’s tech roundup we show how iFood, Brazil’s gargantuan food delivery leader, is struggling after Covid restrictions were lifted.

After pandemic boom, iFood makes cuts 

iFood, Brazil’s leading food delivery company, announced layoffs last week, and halved the volume of new hires. The company didn’t disclose numbers, but estimates are of approximately 80 positions, or 2 percent, of the 4,000-person workforce in Brazil and Colombia.

What they are saying. “iFood is restructuring some areas to achieve greater efficiency and focus for the business. Unfortunately, the prioritization and review process led to the dismissal of some people and the slowing of new hires,” the company said in a statement.
