On February 16, President Michel Temer signed a decree declaring a security intervention in Rio de Janeiro. For the measure to be effective until the end of the year, however, it needs to be approved by Congress.

The House had scheduled the vote on the federal intervention in Rio de Janeiro for 7 p.m. yesterday.
