Israel loses support in Latin America — Milei excluded
A wave of Latin American governments is distancing itself from Israel as the death toll from its Gaza military campaign continues to rise, reaching over 28,000 victims according to the Hamas-run local Health Ministry, with millions more displaced from their homes.
👉 Why it matters. With some variations in tone, Israel received widespread support following the October 7 Hamas assault on its southern border that killed 1,139 Israelis and took more than 200 hostage. But as the conflict escalated and casualties mounted in Gaza, their stance began to evolve, with left-wing governments shifting their focus to Israel’s war conduct.
Court cases. In January, Brazil and Mexico supported South Africa’s genocide accusations against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
