AMLO’s flagship Mayan Train ready for maiden trip
After inaugurating multiple airports over the past few months, Mexican President Andrés Manuel “AMLO” López Obrador is looking forward to the first trip of his flagship Mayan Train on December 15, the most ambitious infrastructure project of his administration.
The project. The train will initially cover a 473-kilometer stretch from the Caribbean tourist city of Cancún to the state of Campeche.
- Another stretch running from Tulún to Chetumal will be inaugurated in February, as the train is expected to be fully functional next year, covering 1,500 kilometers filled with some of the most majestic locations in the continent, from Mayan ruins to tropical jungles.
Wonders. Tickets are already on sale, ranging from USD 67 to 107, and will allow tourists to reach destinations such as Palenque’s Temple of the Inscriptions, Calakmul’s natural reserve, Yucatán’s...
