Lula’s Africa trip
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrived today in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, the first stop of his week-long trip to Africa. In two days, he will travel to Ethiopia to attend the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa — where he will hold several bilateral meetings with other heads of state.
👉 Why it matters. Brazil and Egypt will sign bilateral agreements in bioenergy and innovation on Thursday. Lula should also try to use the trip to make Brazil available to help negotiations to defuse the ongoing crisis between Israel and Palestine.
