2023 was the hottest year in Brazilian history
Global temperatures reached exceptionally high levels in 2023. Copernicus, the European Union’s climate change observatory, confirmed on Tuesday that 2023 was the hottest year on record (by a substantial margin), with temperatures likely the highest in at least 100,000 years.
Driving the news. Last year was also the hottest in Brazilian history, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) reported, also on Tuesday. In 2023, monthly average temperatures exceeded the historical mean in nine out of 12 months.
