Brazil is already feeling the climate emergency
Since 2019, more than 60 percent of Brazilian cities have faced some type of emergency caused by extreme climate events, according to data compiled by think tank Instituto Talanoa at the request of The Brazilian Report. Over the past five years, 12,811 “natural disasters” were logged in the Federal Gazette, meaning they triggered action from policymakers.
👉 Why it matters. The terrible effects of climate change are not a problem for Brazil’s future, they are being felt right now.
