India wants your attention
One of the first priorities of the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva administration has been to rebuild relations with China, the country’s most important trading partner, which were damaged during the Jair Bolsonaro years. Lula travels to China on Sunday, and his top foreign policy adviser said there was “no reason for Brazil not to participate” in the Belt and Road Initiative — Beijing’s push to develop geopolitical ties through infrastructure and ports.
- But some partners believe Lula’s attention to China comes at the expense of other partners. In recent talks with Brazilian officials, Indian diplomats have expressed concern that Brazil’s Asia policy is too China-centric.
