Next government begins to take shape
President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is expected to unveil up to five names of his future cabinet today — including his pick for finance minister, the most anticipated of all. Lula has promised to deliver a team that “looks like Brazil,” with more women and people of color than ever before. But these first picks are likely to be all men, mostly white.
Why it matters. While some of the names to be announced this morning are not exactly surprising, they will start painting a picture of what to expect from the upcoming administration.
