Brazil’s government-controlled oil major Petrobras concluded on Monday the USD 61 million sale of three thermal power plants in the city of Camaçari, in the northeastern state of Bahia. The facilities will now be owned by São Francisco Energia S.A., a subsidiary of utilities company Global Participações em Energia S.A.

The Petrobras assets changing hands consist of the Arembepe, Muricy, and Bahia 1 thermal plants, with a combined installed capacity of 329 MW. Each has contracts for the sale of energy to the regulated market effective until at least December 2023.

Operating since 2001 in the energy generation segment and now controlling ten plants, Global Participações em Energia S.A. considers the acquisition strategic in its plan to expand its generation asset portfolio, especially in Bahia state, where it already operates two similar plants.
