Health regulator Anvisa granted emergency use approval to the coronavirus vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson.
The Health Ministry had already announced a purchase deal for 38 million doses of the vaccine, which only requires a single shot to protect against coronavirus infection. The first batches are expected to arrive in the country during the second half of the year.
The vaccine is the fourth to receive approval in Brazil, after the Chinese-made CoronaVac — and immunizers developed by Pfizer and AstraZeneca, which obtained permanent approval.
