UN Secretary-General remains silent over Bachelet’s pro-Boric statement

The former president formally endorsed the left-wing candidate ahead of the December 19 vote

SANTIAGO — UN Secretary-General António Guterres refused to comment on statements made by the organization’s High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, who declared her support for left-wing presidential candidate Gabriel Boric ahead of Chile’s runoff election on Sunday. By doing so, the UN’s top official dismisses accusations of “interventionism” made by far-right candidate José Antonio Kast.
