This week: The first startup created within one of the most advanced medical centers in Brazil, Sofya, is using AI to streamline medical records and expand doctors’ cognitive abilities.

An AI tool to make doctors’ lives easier and more productive

Sofya was created by a team made up of doctors, nurses, IT professionals, and entrepreneurs aiming to cut the red tape involved in anamneses and record filling. It was also the first “minimum viable product,” or MVPm, by Alma, the innovation area launched in 2022 by the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, one of the flagship medical complexes in the country.

Why it matters. “Digital bureaucracy is the biggest obstacle in health workers’ routines. They spend up to a third of their time filling out medical records.
