Brazil to have a national policy on digital education

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has until January 11 to sanction or veto the national digital education policy, a bill that seeks to guarantee access to online education for all the population and to improve digital literacy at all levels of schooling, with the teaching of computing, programming, and robotics in all schools.

Context. The pandemic ended up accelerating the need to think about education in the digital sphere, with the Covid-related restrictions forcing students and teachers to migrate from classrooms to digital platforms — albeit in a very unequal manner, especially between public and private schools.

In addition, the pandemic also increased the supply of remote jobs and gave special emphasis to tech professions due to the new challenges companies started to face with this different work regime.
