A quick guide to Latin America’s 2024 presidential elections
As The Brazilian Report has been reporting for some time, anti-incumbency bias has explained most of Latin America’s elections throughout the last few years, as only one ruling coalition has been able to hold on to power through clean presidential elections since 2018.
- The exception was Paraguay.
- Meanwhile, voters in Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala â and even in smaller regional elections like those of Colombia â opted for the opposition last year, a sign of growing political dissatisfaction that was likely exacerbated by the Covid pandemic.
