There will be no shortage of emotion in Congress this week, with the year’s biggest piece of legislation so far potentially going to a vote in the House and several parliamentary inquiries expected to be operating at full capacity. Here’s what you need to know:
Fiscal framework
After fast-tracking the proposal for Brazil’s new fiscal framework last week, the House floor is expected to vote on the core bill by Wednesday. Lawmakers have presented dozens of amendment suggestions to the bill, which could alter its appearance by the time it reaches the Senate.
- Congressman Cláudio Cajado, the bill’s rapporteur, says he will analyze all the proposals. As of Friday, there were already 40.
