Feds target Bolsonaro’s former intelligence agents
The Federal Police are carrying out 21 search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to people suspected of illegally using spy software to monitor political opponents of the former Jair Bolsonaro administration.
- The suspects include seven federal marshals (who have been suspended from their duties) and Congressman Alexandre Ramagem, who served as head of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) under Mr. Bolsonaro.
👉 Why it matters. According to police, a criminal ring created a “parallel structure” within Abin to use the agency’s tools and services for illicit activities. Their goal would be to produce intelligence in order to discredit perceived enemies of former President Bolsonaro, blackmail targets, or even interfere with federal investigations.
