Judge suspends all Brazilian exports of live animals
A federal judge in Brazil has issued an injunction suspending all exports of live cattle from the country’s ports. The ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by the National Forum for the Protection and Defense of Animals, an animal rights advocacy group that likens the shipment of live animals to human trafficking and the slave trade.
- In 2023 alone, Brazil has already exported over USD 116 million worth of live animals.
