Lula continues to stir the pot
As if economic conditions (both local and global) were not challenging enough, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is ensuring that he makes the political environment as tumultuous as possible.
- In addition to waging a very public feud with the Central Bank over interest rates, Lula has raised tensions with the right-wing opposition by questioning a police operation that dismantled a plan to assassinate authorities, including Senator Sergio Moro, who as a judge convicted Lula of corruption.
In his words. During an event at a submarine shipyard, Lula said the case was “obviously staged by [Sergio] Moro.” He added that he wouldn’t comment further because he had no proof of what he was saying, while still throwing shade at the case’s judge.
