President Lula will meet U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House today. He will also hold meetings with Democratic lawmakers.
What it matters. This will be the first bilateral meeting between the two presidents. It’s also the first time a Brazilian president has visited the White House since March 2019, when Jair Bolsonaro met Donald Trump.
The agenda. The U.S. Embassy in Brazil says the meeting will focus on four topics: (1) climate change; (2) democracy, human rights, and racial equity; (3) trade and investment, and (4)
global affairs, such as Ukraine and Venezuela.
