Feds close investigation on Bolsonaro’s Covid misinformation
The Federal Police have closed an investigation into President Jair Bolsonaro’s claims linking Covid vaccines to HIV infections during a live broadcast on social media.
- In a report to the Supreme Court, marshals reiterate that the president and an aide who helped set up the broadcast committed a crime by inciting people not to vaccinate or wear masks based on false information.
- They also say Mr. Bolsonaro and his aide committed a misdemeanor by “announcing an inexistent danger or disaster” in a way to cause panic.
- The report states that there are enough elements to prove authorship and existence of both transgressions.
