Six weeks after being fired as Health Minister, Eduardo Pazuello visited a shopping mall in the Amazonian city of Manaus this weekend, without wearing a face mask. Repeatedly criticized for his department’s catastrophic handling of the coronavirus pandemic, Mr. Pazuello is under investigation for failing to act during the oxygen crisis in Manaus back in January.

When the photograph of a maskless Mr. Pazuello reached social media, the Manauara Shopping mall urged that it adheres to all safety precautions and that the former Health Minister was “immediately ushered to a kiosk to obtain a [mask].”

Mr. Pazuello is also expected to be called in for questioning by the Senate’s newly-formed parliamentary hearings committee, which will investigate the coronavirus response of federal, state, and municipal governments.
