Former Justice Minister Sergio Moro said President Jair Bolsonaro wants to arm the Brazilian population as a means to starting a revolution against social isolation. His words came in response to the president’s claims that Mr. Moro did not support the government’s pro-gun ideology.

According to Mr. Moro, the president always criticized his pro-social isolation, stance, along with former Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta. He said the loosening of gun laws should be debated, but not in the “irresponsible” manner supported by Mr. Bolsonaro, who wants to “promote an armed rebellion against the public health policies implemented by governors and mayors.”

The Brazilian Report explained the Bolsonaro family’s obsession with relaxing gun ownership and carry regulations, and the motivation has a lot to do with the companies that manufacture firearms in Brazil.
