Meta’s Threads violates Brazil’s data protection laws

Meta’s new Twitter-esque social platform Threads is now available in 100 countries, but has yet to launch in the European Union. The company admitted that it feared an impasse with the Digital Markets Act, a set of rules passed in April that sets new competition rules for large online platforms. However, Meta did not have the same concerns for launches in other countries. In Brazil, experts point out clear violations of general data protection rules.
