Brazil’s federal biological institute Oswaldo Cruz Foundation announced it will receive a new batch of 2 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines on February 23. The shipment comes as multiple Brazilian states interrupted immunization programs due to supply shortages.

The jabs were sent by the Serum Institute in India, which sent a shipment of 2 million doses in January.

The supplies left Mumbai on Monday and will arrive in São Paulo on Tuesday morning. After that, the vaccines will be sent to Fiocruz headquarters in Rio de Janeiro to be labeled and distributed. Brazil expects to receive another batch of 8 million doses in the next two months.
