As the coronavirus pandemic escapes all control of municipal, state, and federal governments in Brazil, a group of state health secretaries issued an open letter calling for a nationwide curfew.
Their proposal would be to limit the movement of people and close non-essential businesses between 8 pm and 6 am at weekends in every Brazilian state. The National Council of Health Secretaries said the measure is necessary due to the “lack of unified and coherent national guidelines.”
Indeed, anti-coronavirus measures in Brazil differ greatly between cities and states.
