São Paulo’s Butantan Biological Institute, responsible for manufacturing the CoronaVac vaccine in Brazil, will deliver another 21 million shots to the Health Ministry this month. This is 17 percent more than the initial goal of 18 million doses in March, says São Paulo Governor João Doria.
Over the next few days, Butantan will deliver 900,000 shots to the national immunization program. By March 4, it expects to receive another 8,000 liters of inputs from Chinese firm Sinovac Biotech — enough to manufacture another 14 million jabs.
According to the contract signed with the Health Ministry, Butantan is expected to deliver 46 million doses by April.
