⚠️ UPDATE: 4,075 new cases, 263 new deaths

Brazil’s Covid-19 cases surpassed 105,000 on Monday, while the official death toll reached 7,288. Over the past 24 hours, Brazil recorded a further 4,075 infections and 263 deaths. On Sunday, Brazil became only the ninth country in the world to register over 100,000 Covid-19 cases.

On Thursday — the last business day in Brazil due to the Workers’ Day holiday on Friday — more than 7,200 new cases were recorded. Last week, this blog explained how the drop in the number of confirmed cases on weekends and holidays could be preventing the country from assessing the real scale of the crisis.
