30 percent of Brazilian youth have a video game problem

The video game industry in Brazil has seen three-digit growth in the last four years, as we showed in our July 11 Tech Roundup. However, one of the negative impacts of this boom is the amount of time many young Brazilians spend playing online. 

What is going on? According to a study carried out by the Institute of Psychology at the University of São Paulo (USP), almost 86 percent of the children interviewed reported playing video games in the past year.

Meanwhile, 28 percent of children and teenagers in Brazil met the criteria for Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), a situation where the excessive use of games...
