As Manaus collapses, Brazilians take part in pot-banging protests

As Brazilian witness scenes of horror in Manaus, the biggest city in the Amazon basin, multiple pot-banging protests erupted in the country’s main urban centers. Disgruntled voters ask for the resignation (or impeachment) of President Jair Bolsonaro — who has opted for a hands-off approach to the coronavirus crisis from the beginning.

The president has been a prime source of coronavirus misinformation in Brazil, from trying to cover up infection and death figures to promoting unproven and risky “miracle cures” against the virus.

Acts were registered in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasília.
