Brazil’s Justice Minister tests positive for coronavirus

Yet another member of the Bolsonaro cabinet has contracted the coronavirus. Justice Minister André Mendonça has tested positive for Covid-19, according to his press secretary. He is reportedly feeling well and has gone into isolation.

The Justice Minister is the 13th cabinet minister to have contracted the virus — not to mention First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro and President Jair Bolsonaro himself. Other infections include:

  • Luiz Eduardo Ramos (Secretary of Government)
  • Augusto Heleno (Chief security officer)
  • Bento Albuquerque (Mines and Energy)
  • Milton Ribeiro (Education)
  • Onyx Lorenzoni (Citizenship)
  • Marcos Pontes (Science and Technology)
  • Wagner Rosário (Comptroller General)
  • Walter Braga Netto (Chief of Staff)
  • Jorge Oliveira (Secretary General)
  • Marcelo Álvaro Antônio (Tourism)
  • Fabio Faria (Communications)
