Brazil’s government has decided to loosen its restrictions on foreigners crossing its borders, allowing tourists to enter the country through airports. The decision was published on Wednesday evening and will be valid for at least 30 days. The rule does not apply to foreigners arriving by land or sea, who will still be turned away.
Foreign tourists had been forbidden to enter Brazilian territory without justification since March, when the government established the first rules to control the coronavirus spread.
However, certain exceptions apply to this new authorization for tourists arriving by air. Foreigners arriving on flights landing in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Sul, and Tocantins will not be allowed to disembark. According to G1, the government did not explain the restriction.
