Hit by Covid-19, Brazilian industry has its worst April in 18 years

Brazilian industrial production dropped 18.8 percent between March and April, reaching its lowest level since 2002. The result was a direct consequence of stoppages in factories due to Covid-19, as reported by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. Compared to April 2019, production dipped 27.2 percent, the sixth consecutive drop and the worst result on record. Since March, Brazilian industrial production has already fallen by 26.1 percent.
