Brazilians support isolation measures despite impacts on income

Research by credit bureau Boa Vista shows that 75 percent of Brazilian consumers continue to support social isolation measures, though 78 percent expect them to cause a negative impact on their monthly income. According to the data, 41 percent of interviewees had already resorted to some kind of extra work to make ends meet even before the pandemic. But, despite the declining financial situation, 14 percent of interviewees were stockpiling food and hygiene products.

Moreover, 29 percent of consumers increased the use of e-commerce to shop since the beginning of the pandemic. Their preferred payment method is by credit card, used by 71 percent of e-commerce customers. In Brazil, credit cards are known for their scorching interest rates.

Six hundred people were interviewed for the study in April, which has a confidence interval of four percentage points.
