⚠️ UPDATE: Brazil has 30,425 infections and 1,924 Covid-19 deaths

Brazil surpassed the mark of 30,000 Covid-19 cases on Thursday and recorded 1,924 deaths from the disease. In the last 24 hours, the country registered over 2,000 new cases and 188 deaths.

The daily rise in cases and deaths was slightly smaller than in previous updates, after Brazil recorded two consecutive days of over 200 new fatalities from Covid-19. It remains to be seen whether this trend will continue into the weekend.

However, infectious disease specialists are convinced that the official numbers released by the Health Ministry may be way off the actual total. Brazil’s rate of testing is desperately low for a country of its size, and the exams that have been carried out have formed a backlog in diagnostic laboratories.
