Rio de Janeiro’s health authorities confirmed that a patient who died on Tuesday in Niterói, Greater Rio de Janeiro, was suffering from Covid-19. This is the first recorded death in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Like all other fatal Brazilian patients, the 69-year-old man had pre-existing conditions that made him more vulnerable to the virus. The state of Rio de Janeiro also confirmed that a 62-year-old woman who died on Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
