Following a USD 1.5 million investment, health tech Smart Doctor launched operations in Brazil, bringing its platform of integrated health at lower prices to four Latin American countries now.
The startup was founded in 2020 by doctors Karen and Christian Rivera in Peru and offers health plans for companies starting at BRL 50 ($9.85) per employee, which is one-twelfth of the average cost of health insurance in Brazil.
As part of its business model, Smart Doctor offers an integrated health platform and carries out an individual analysis of each employee. Later, the company provides reports to track patients’ progress and also distributes incentives to ensure they keep looking after their health.
The investment led by funds Pareto20, Fresh-Ventures, and GreenEgg Venture has allowed Smart Doctor to set foot in Brazil. Later this year, Smart Doctor intends to fundraise again and expand to Argentina.
Among its current customers, there are companies such as the Latin American division of cosmetics maker Natura and coworking offices WeWork, adding some 5,700 patients to the platform. The goal is to sign up 2,000 companies and 200,000 employees by 2025.
