São Paulo reports fewer than 1,000 hospitalizations for second day running

For the second consecutive day, São Paulo state registered fewer than 1,000 Covid-19 hospitalizations, with 985 admissions on Monday and 969 on Tuesday, according to the latest report. The number went above the 1,000 mark over the weekend. 

The number of people requiring intensive care is also on a downward trend in the country’s most populous state. After exceeding 90 percent ICU occupancy in March, the São Paulo government now reports a level of 54 percent. Experts believe the relief in the number of hospitalizations and cases is related to vaccination, with almost 76 percent of the state’s adult population receiving at least one dose so far.
