Argentinian health officials confirmed on Tuesday that the country’s vaccine campaign will prioritize second doses in August, in order to ensure that at least 60 percent of over 50s will reach full immunization.
According to Health Minister Carla Vizzotti, the country needs to reduce mortality and hospitalizations “given the potential risk of the persistent circulation of the Delta coronavirus variant.”
As of today, over 13.6 percent of the country’s 45 million people have been twice vaccinated, including 90 percent of Argentina’s senior citizens.
