The telehealth boom in Brazil

The telehealth sector has gained ground in Brazil with each passing year. Per the annual ICT survey on the health sector, 33 percent of physicians and 26 percent of nurses in the country made use of remote consultations in their day-to-day activities.

What’s going on. The pandemic spurred investment in digital transformation from public and private health players, underlining the need for legislation on telehealth.

Regulation. Earlier this month, the Senate finally approved a bill authorizing and regulating telehealth, also encompassing remote services in nursing, physical therapy, and psychology on a national level. But as senators made alterations to the text, the bill will first return to the House.
