Senators Alessandro Vieira, Lasier Martins, and Major Olímpio tested positive for Covid-19 after working in Brasília last week, reports website Poder 360. The three politicians are reportedly feeling fine and are socially isolating, but there is no information on whether the Senate intends to resume remote sessions.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, dozens of members of Congress have tested positive for the disease, while two senators — Arolde de Oliveira and José Maranhão — died from the disease. Still, that didn’t stop House Speaker Arthur Lira from hosting a party for 300 guests — many of them lawmakers — to celebrate his victory in the February 1 congressional leadership election.
