The Mexican police arrested six people selling fake Covid-19 vaccines in the northeastern state of Nuevo León. According to authorities, each dose was being sold for around USD 5,400.
Law enforcement caught the criminals selling fake vaccines in the San Nicolás suburb of Monterrey, which is among the richest districts in Mexico. Police say the group targeted members of the Mexican elite who were keen to jump the vaccination queue. Several Latin American countries have reported the selling of fake medicines.
As of February 15, more than 58,000 people in Mexico have received their first coronavirus vaccine jabs. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says 117 million people will be immunized in 2021.
