EXCLUSIVE: Health Minister to testify today in Manaus probe

Brazil’s embattled Health Minister Eduardo Pazuello will testify to the Federal Police later today as part of a federal investigation into his conduct regarding the Manaus health collapse.

Sources told The Brazilian Report that his testimony is scheduled for 2 pm on Thursday and will take place in the hotel he lives, away from Federal Police headquarters in Brasília.

The Supreme Court greenlit an investigation into whether Mr. Pazuello should be held liable for not acting quickly enough to prevent a shortage of oxygen supplies in Manaus hospitals — which led to the death of dozens of patients.

The Health Ministry admitted to knowing about the imminent collapse beforehand — but offered no explanation on why it failed to act upon it.
