The official website of the Rio de Janeiro Health Department was down on Wednesday afternoon after hackers tried to breach it, according to the state’s IT and Communications Center (Proderj).
In a statement, Proderj informed that the website was made unavailable “without risk of data or information loss,” and that it was working alongside the health department to re-establish access to the website as soon as possible. The center, however, failed to provide any detail on the attack.
The website of the state’s Prosecutor General’s Office was also down, but there is no information on whether it was hacked — and if there is any connection to the attack on the Health Department’s website. Proderj did not respond immediately to a comment request for this story.
