Three months after creating the Covid-19 crisis committee, led by Chief of Staff General Braga Netto, President Jair Bolsonaro has signed a decree that increases the panel’s decision power. Now, the committee is allowed to “deliberate about priorities, guidelines, and strategies related to the impacts of Covid-19.” Prior to that, experts saw the committee as little more than a board of consultants, without the power to enforce recommendations.
