Venezuela to accuse Bolsonaro of “negligence” at United Nations

According to Venezuelan Ambassador to the United Nations Samuel Moncada, the Nicolás Maduro government will denounce President Jair Bolsonaro’s administration for “criminal negligence facing the pandemic, that endangers the lives of millions of inhabitants in Brazil and throughout the continent.”

The report will be sent through a letter addressed to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.

The move could be criticized as the pot calling the kettle black, however. As The Brazilian Report showed in May, Venezuela’s coronavirus approach is not to be followed, as the country is believed to have tampered with official data.

Besides the poor handling of the pandemic, Messrs. Bolsonaro and Maduro share one thing: they were the only Latin American leaders who had social media posts deleted for containing false information about Covid-19.
