Brazil has closed its borders to all foreigners. For the next 30 days, people of all nationalities are prohibited from entering Brazil by air, land, and sea. The restriction does not apply to permanent residents; foreign nationals serving an international organization such as the United Nations; those working with the Brazilian government; or those traveling through Brazil without leaving the airport; those who have a Brazilian spouse, partner, or child; foreigners registered with National Migration Registry.
The new measure will not affect international humanitarian programs or international trade. Other Latin American countries such as Argentina announced similar measures in March — when the pandemic reached the region.
